This type of hearing loss is a result of damage to the hair cells in your inner ear, or to the nerve pathways that lead from the inner ear to the brain.

There are various factors that causes sensorineural hearing loss, with aging being the common factor. People which suffers from sensorineural hearing loss have the ability to hear but could not understand speech well, especially in the presence of background noise.
